As part of the week’s programme, IFE’s coordinated Horizon Europe project, REESOURCE, co-organised the side event “Crossroads of Innovation: Shared Challenges and Joint Solutions in Raw Materials.” The workshop brought together 11 EU-funded initiatives working across primary, secondary, and advanced material value chains to align innovation efforts and support Europe’s transition toward a more secure and sustainable CRM supply.
The event gathered project teams, industry representatives, and policymakers to discuss practical solutions developed across Horizon Europe projects, systemic bottlenecks that continue to limit progress, and opportunities to strengthen cooperation and reduce fragmentation within the European raw materials landscape.
IFE was strongly represented throughout the programme. Colleagues contributed by moderating panel discussions, presenting REESOURCE’s results, joining the final high-level policy panel, and supporting the organisation of the event. Their engagement reflects IFE’s active role in advancing European research, promoting cross-project collaboration, and contributing to policy-relevant dialogue on raw materials.
The workshop forms part of ongoing cooperation between the participating Horizon Europe projects. The insights, discussions, and stakeholder input collected will now be consolidated into a set of policy recommendations to support the implementation of the Critical Raw Materials Act and Europe’s broader strategic autonomy objectives.
