Due to the COVID situation, all sessions will be held online, which ensures a great opportunity for World-wide participation. Participation is free of charge and a great opportunity for young researchers to get feedback and establish valuable connections for future research. Working language will be English.
Lectures, discussions and individual feedback
The COOL LONGBOAT school will include lectures, presentations, and discussions of recent scientific, technological, and industrial development in the field of materials and processes for solar-driven hydrogen production. During the school, the participants will also have the opportunity to present their own works online in the form of so-called flash presentations, receive feedback and get individual support combined with opportunities for informal dialogues with lecturers and peers.
Solar energy conversions, material science and methods of research
Lectures will focus on solar energy conversion into chemical energy by photoelectrochemical (PEC) cells and related materials. The lectures will reflect on the recent developments in materials for anodes, cathodes, reactor design, applications of PV cells in PEC, photocatalysts as well as advanced characterization methods. Experts on different topics, such as materials science and nanotechnology, physics and chemistry, engineering, theoretical and experimental methods of research, will deliver lectures and formulate new research directions.
Main topics are:
- Photoelectrochemical cells (PEC) for water electrolysis.
- New photoanodes and cathodes for PEC.
- Photovoltaic and energy storage devices for applications in PEC.
- Advanced characterization techniques for energy related materials.
- Theoretical and experimental methods of study of materials for PEC.
