Onshore supervision of autonomous ships

This is an ongoing NFR-IPN MAROFF project with Kongsberg Maritime as project owner and IFE and NTNU as research partners.

The purpose of this project is to develop interaction solutions that support monitoring and control of autonomous vessels from land-based control centers. The project will seek answers to how interaction solutions in such a center should be set up to ensure safe, cost-efficient and safe monitoring and control of autonomous vessels. The project uses a holistic approach based on a human-technology-organizational perspective, as well as a research-based and user-centered iterative design and evaluation methodology. This will ensure that the final interaction solutions work optimally in various operational situations.
