Partnering with Nature and Society – Developing the Energy System of the Future!

Publisert: 3. March 2025

IFE are proud to have contributed to the Energi21 report “Partnering with Nature and Society: Developing the Energy System of the Future”, which was recently published.

In collaboration with Multiconsult and NINA – the Norwegian Institute for Nature Research, we have provided insights and expertise to strengthen the knowledge base on the environmental and ecological impacts of future energy systems.

The report focuses on balancing the need for increased renewable energy production and infrastructure development with environmental and nature conservation considerations. It highlights the importance of prioritizing research and innovation to minimize negative impacts on nature and society.

Energi21

Energi21 is Norway’s national research and innovation strategy for new climate-friendly energy technologies. Established by the Ministry of Energy, Energi21 provides guidance on thematic and financial priorities for research and innovation in the energy sector. It operates as a permanent independent strategic body with its own board, appointed by the minister, and a secretariat responsible for executing strategic processes.

One of the key challenges in Norway’s transition to climate-friendly energy is balancing cost-effective utilization of renewable energy resources and infrastructure development with environmental protection. Achieving Norway’s energy and climate goals for 2030 and 2050 could be challenging if this issue is not thoroughly addressed in the planning, design, construction, and operation of new energy projects.
