Following the investigation of research misconduct at the Halden reactor, IFE reported the matter to Økokrim (National Authority for Investigation and Prosecution of Economic and Environmental Crime) on April 30, 2020. After the Directorate for Radiation Protection and Nuclear Safety (DSA) completed its supervisory review of IFE’s investigation, DSA also filed a formal complaint on the matter on October 29, 2024. However, Økokrim has now dismissed both cases, as it believes there is no reasonable basis to open an investigation.

In its notification of the dismissal, Økokrim points out that the case has been dismissed under code 106/22, stating that there is no reasonable basis to open an investigation. Økokrim justifies its decision by stating that most of the reported matters are presumably time-barred.
