On Friday, September 26, IFE took part in this year’s Researcher`s Night at Lillestrøm Library. Researcher`s Night is part of a larger European science festival held simultaneously in several countries, with the goal of making research accessible and understandable to the general public. The event brings together both young and old, offering the audience the opportunity to meet researchers face-to-face and learn more about how science impacts society.
For the second year in a row, Christian Dye represented IFE. He gave the lecture “Critical Minerals in a Geopolitical Perspective”, which explored how access to essential raw materials affects the energy transition, technological development, and international politics. The lecture was part of this year’s main theme, security, and highlighted how critical minerals are vital for energy security, societal development, and international stability.
The talk sparked great interest, with several participants asking questions and engaging in discussion with Christian afterwards. It gave the audience insight into how complex and important this field is, and how research can help us understand global challenges.
– “It is inspiring to be able to represent IFE at Researcher`s Night. This year’s theme of security provided a strong framework to show how research on critical minerals is linked to energy security and international relations,” says Christian Dye.
Through its participation in Researcher`s Night, IFE helps make research accessible and relevant to society, while strengthening dialogue between researchers and the public.
