Radiation Protection

Radiation protection work in Halden is primarily directed towards the Project´s own nuclear activities. Major responsibilities include personnel dosimetry and radiological monitoring of both the working and the external environments.

The department runs employee training programmes within the field of radiation protection. Measurement of radioactive content in various products is performed for external customers using advanced analytical equipment. Furthermore, the department is pleased to use it’s expertise to provide advice, and conduct experiments involving the use of radioactive substances.

The department is also engaged in international co-operation programmes aimed at securing a safe radiological environment in the Arctic areas.

The department’s practical experience in radiation protection related to reactor technology represents an important contribution to the national emergency preparedness organization.
